API

Published by on

API stands for Application Programming Interface which is a set of functions and procedures that allow the creation of applications which access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other services. An API is how computers and web applications share information with each other. An example: an app finds the current weather in Sydney by sending a message to the weather.com API. The weather.com API then replies with a structured response.
